Today’s rapidly changing business environment demands an adaptable approach to project management. In response, VMEC announces its innovative course in Agile Project Management.

Agile Project Management is a proven method designed for high-uncertainty projects. For example, Agile is ideal for projects where requirements are in flux, where stakeholder needs are changing, and where the tools or environment are new.

Agile was originally designed for software but today these techniques are applied to a wide range of projects, from information technology to marketing and from manufacturing to education. The focus is on empowering teams to collaborate to make good decisions quickly and effectively and deliver useful results.

This workshop in Agile Project Management consists of two full-day sessions during which attendees work on real projects and leave with practical next steps to apply back on the job.  Day One teaches how to select the best projects for the company and quickly determine the boundaries of the project’s scope. Attendees write project charters suitable for sharing with stakeholders and learn the Scrum methodology.  Day Two teaches how to assess the risks and lay out the road map of specific project work by writing Agile “user stories” so that attendees leave ready to work with their teams.

Ideally, organizations send intact teams to this training so that they can develop the project together. However, individuals are welcome to attend. Note that attendees may work on projects that are not their own, thus learning about different industries and departments.  Typical projects that teams bring to the workshop include capital improvements (new equipment or facilities changes), product or service development, IT-related, continuous improvement and quality projects.
