The "open innovation" USA and Vermont Innovation Marketplaces are designed to accelerate connections and communications between Sellers and Buyers of innovations through two-way publishing of Sellers' offerings and Buyers' requests using standardized formats.
The Vermont Innovation Marketplace is a subset of the USA National Innovation Marketplace and part of the Planet Eureka! International Network of Innovation Marketplaces. This is a service of the US Department of Commerce NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), of which the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC) is an affiliate.
The Marketplaces also include sub marketplaces focused on: 1) Products that accelerate Green and Sustainability, and 2) Product ideas for new Business Start ups.
In December 2008 with encouragment and support from the Vermont Technology Council, VMEC made a decision to develop a Vermont Innovation Marketplace.
