Next Generation Manufacturing Strategies are a framework of strategies that will drive manufacturing growth and profitability in the 21st century.
An important research study to assess the progress of Vermont manufacturers in adopting strategies to win in the global economy was launched in February 2009 by VMEC, and it concluded in April 2009. Study participants were offered a free, customized benchmarking report comparing their progress to the overall results as well as to other respondents of similar revenue and number of employees. The MPI Group, an internationally respected research, strategy, and benchmarking company prepared each report.
This study was the first step in a long-term effort to help Vermont's manufacturers weather today's economic challenges, improve their manufacturing competitiveness, and grow over the next decade. The study results will also help VMEC in its planning for new products and services that need to be offered to Vermont companies.
VMEC believes that the adoption of Next Generation Manufacturing strategies represents an historic opportunity to strengthen and improve the Vermont and US manufacturing base and achieve a long-term competitive advantage across all industries and sectors.
