Leahy Secures $2 Million To Help Improve Access To Defense Industry Work For Vermont Manufacturers
December 9, 2003

Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) announced today that the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC) will manage a new $2 million initiative to assist Vermont manufacturers in receiving contracts from the Department of Defense (DoD) and its largest prime contractors. The project is part of funds set aside for a New England defense supply chain in the Defense Appropriations Bill. Senator Leahy is a senior member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. Senator Jim Jeffords also supported the inclusion of these funds in the Defense bill.

VMEC Launches New Web Site, Named One of BizBest™ Top 100 Resources

VMEC launches a new website today (www.vmec.org) that greatly enhances access to their extensive program offerings for Vermont manufacturers. VMEC is a member of the National Institute of Standards and Technologies’ (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), which was recently recognized as one of the top100 resources for small business by BizBest(TM) magazine.
