New England Manufacturing Supply Chain

Machine Operator Skills Training (M.O.S.T.)

M.O.S.T. is a pilot program involving the 6 New England states to address the advanced machine shops' critical need for qualified operators. The unique Fast Track training process is designed to produce machine operators for employment in the advanced machine shop market. The program will assist participating companies in hiring new specially trained, skilled workers. Additionally, we will train the existing work force to improve manufacturing skills essential to employee satisfaction and long term retention.

There is no cost to participate in this program. Funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Labor coordinated through the Main Dept of Economic Development.

Teaming Arrangements

Manufacturers may be able to increase their chances of winning contract awards by teaming with other companies to meet specific technical capabilities, manufacturing capacity, or subcontracting plan goals. The federal government encourages teaming arrangements.

Supplier Search

The Supply Point™ database and our New England Manufacturing Supply Chain partners provide powerful resources that allow VMEC to quickly identify manufacturers with the technical capabilities and capacity that you need from a new or alternate supplier.

Business Enterprise Assessment

Key management participants are guided through a business assessment process which addresses six enterprise focus areas: strategic leadership; finance, marketing and sales; operating effectiveness; quality, environmental, health and safety; human resources and organization development; and information systems and technology.

The assessment serves as a discovery guide for companies. Responses are processed and a written feedback report is generated and presented to the company. The report documents the company's current reality, recognizes opportunities for organizational change/improvement and charts a suitable course of action.

Supply Chain Improvement

For companies that recognize the importance of good supply chain management, and want to get started down the road to improvement, VMEC offers the Supply Chain Improvement Jumpstart.

“We have attended the Lean 101 and Making Sense of Defense workshops. The VMEC staff and workshops are great. More of our staff will be attending. We tried it and it worked for us.”
