New England Manufacturing Supply Chain (NEMSC)

A new resource for Vermont manufacturers provided by the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center (VMEC)

NEMSC is a VMEC program, in collaboration with all New England Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Centers, to increase the number of small and medium manufacturers in New England that participate in the defense supply chain.

If you are a Vermont manufacturer interested in increasing sales, participation may provide you with unprecedented contracting and subcontracting opportunities throughout the defense industry. The Department of Defense purchases conventional office supplies, food, clothing and other general purpose goods, as well as specialized weaponry, ships and planes. Therefore, every manufacturer in Vermont may have the potential to participate in this vital market.

Participation is free and the first step is to register in our New England-wide database of designated defense suppliers.

"The test engineering group at the Ethan Allen Firing Range (EAFR) feels that the 5S effort has been a positive move for day-to-day operations at the range. The results of the 5S effort have saved time in several ways for the programs working in building 228 and 229. A recent customer visit to the EAFR produced feedback that buildings 228 and 229 'looked very organized and well maintained'. This was a great thing to hear from a customer and an outside source."
