Products & Services – Administrative Lean

VMEC augments its broad offering of Lean workshops with onsite assistance to Vermont manufacturing companies, with three levels of involvement:

Public or Onsite Training in Lean Principles & Techniques

VMEC will conduct any of its workshops at your in-house facility and can customize the material to maximize the benefit to your employees. At this level, we train your employees to execute the improvements with internal resources. Public workshops are also available to train small groups or individuals. Check with your VMEC advisor to determine if financial support is available through VMEC's working partnership with the Vermont Training Program of the Department of Economic Development.

Onsite Training with Implementation Assistance in Lean Techniques

VMEC will help organize your Lean project and provide on-going advisory follow up services as the project unfolds. Check with your VMEC advisor to determine if financial support is available through VMEC's working partnership with the Vermont Training Program of the Department of Economic Development.

Full Implementation Service

VMEC staff will not only train your employees, but also work closely with your team onsite to execute the planned project. This option helps the company with limited staff to manage Lean improvements and maintain momentum.

Typical Onsite Projects


  • Fundamentals of Lean Office. The basic building block of Lean awareness gets all employees involved and builds common nomenclature and objectives.

  • Office Value Stream Mapping. Focuses on the creation of value in the organization, and elimination of non-value added activities and waste. Creates a road map for further Lean improvements.

  • Workplace Visual Systems. Set up the workplace to quickly and accurately share information and eliminate the waste of searching through disorganized and unneeded materials

  • Work Standardization. Utilize the experience and knowledge of work teams to create and implement ‘best methods’.

  • Creating Flow. Identifying and implementing improvements which further enhance the speed of complete & accurate information throughout the business.
