Originally a graduate mechanical engineer from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Bill has worked with computers and computer based systems for more than 20 years. In 1980, he started his own business designing and building computer based test equipment. This led to work in robotics and embedded systems. Bill has worked on a broad range of avionic and satellite systems as well as associated test and simulation equipment. On the manufacturing side, Bill has managed manufacturing and test engineering groups and has helped to select and implement integrated manufacturing software systems. He has been a systems administrator and is experienced with Solaris, Linux, Windows, VMS, and several other operating systems plus more than a dozen programming languages. He is presently an active member of a national level, e-Business working group of the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension partnership (MEP). Bill joined VMEC in June 1998 and works from a home office in Monkton.
