Originally a mechanical engineer from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Bill has worked with computers and computer based systems for more than 30 years. In 1980, he started his own business designing and building computer based test equipment. Bill has worked on a broad range of avionic and satellite systems as well as associated test and simulation equipment.
On the manufacturing side, Bill has managed manufacturing and test engineering groups and has helped to select and implement integrated manufacturing software systems. He has been a systems administrator and is experienced with Linux, Windows, and several other operating systems plus more than a dozen programming languages. He is experienced with database and web design as well as cloud-based applications including Salesforce.
Since Bill joined VMEC in June 1998, he has focused on business software and process improvement in non-manufacturing settings. He has been instrumental in the successful application of Lean principles and techniques to a range of projects including new product development, purchasing, billing, software project management, contract negotiations, and patient flow. His experience includes working with manufacturing businesses as well as state government, physician's offices, hospitals, and higher education.
